Humane Society readies for Bark in the Park

Published: May 3, 2017 12:00 AM

The Humane Society of Summit County is preparing for its annual Bark in the Park pledge walk and pet expo presented by Cascade Subaru and Wild Republic, at Springfield Lake Park May 6 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Bark in the Park, conducted in conjunction with Springfield Township, is HSSC's annual community-wide celebration and a fun-filled day that raises money and awareness for the most vulnerable animals in Summit County. There are animals, vendors, food trucks, interactive games, demonstrations, raffles and more.

All proceeds benefit the Humane Society of Summit County's animals, who are victims of cruelty, neglect, illness and injury. Funds also support adoption services.

"Our goal is for each participant to raise at least $100," said Katlyn Grayson, event coordinator. "More than 90 percent of the Humane Society of Summit County's funding is from individual donations, so get your Scout troop, sorority or fraternity, colleagues or just friends and family together to support a good cause."

Grayson said the goal is to raise $50,000 this year. Register at www.summithumane.org/bitp.
