The Twinsburg High girls bowling team captured the G-Men Classic at Sky Lanes in Garrettsville on Jan. 27.
Down 2-0 to Wadsworth, the Lady Tigers came back to win the final three games top win the crown in dramatic fashion.
"The ladies battled some of the best high school teams in the area and won in true team fashion," said head coach Ron Fruscella.
Twinsburg was led by seniors Halle Ponter and Jamie Schmitt. The duo posted three game series of 599 and 573, respectively.
At Sky Lanes, the Lady Tigers were the top seed after three regular and five baker games. The format was the top four teams faced off in a best of five baker-game format with one versus four and two versus three.
Twinsburg faced Garrettsville Garfield and Wadsworth faced Stow.
Up 2-0 against Garfield, the G-Men battled back to win the next two to tie the series 2-2. The Lady Tigers won the last game to move on and best Wadsworth.
"All eight girls from Twinsburg played a big role in the win as the starters seemed to get tired after almost five hours of bowling," pointed out Fruscella.
"The reserves were not to be out done as they stepped up to finish off the championship and take home that trophy as well."
Ponter and Schmitt were named to the G-Men All-Conference Team.
Sectional seed meetings are set for Feb. 3 as the Tigers boys and girls teams will compete at the Portage sectional at Sky Lanes in Garrettsville on Feb. 9.
