With improving marks, the Twinsburg bowling program competed well in the Portage Sectional at Sky Lanes in Garrettsville.
In boys sectional action, on Feb. 10, youthful Twinsburg placed 11th out of 12 teams. The Tigers had a score of 3,123.
Twinsburg's girls squad won the sectional championship on Feb. 9 at Sky Lanes by outscoring runner up Garrettsville 3,644-3,583. It was the first sectional title in school history.
The Lady Tigers also finished ahead of strong teams from Kent Roosevelt (3,578), Stow-Munroe Falls (3,469) and Wadsworth (3,416).
Head coach Ron Fruscella saw his girls squad qualify for the Feb. 23 District Championships at Crest Lanes in Warren with a chance to qualify for the State Championships.
The girls' title came down to the final Baker game as it was a battle throughout with Garfield, Kent, and Stow.
Twinsburg responded with back-to-back 200-plus Baker games to best the G-Men, who were in first place at the end of the three regular Baker games. It was back and forth between first and second throughout the six Baker games.
