Continuing to make strides, the Twinsburg boys track and field squad had some impressive individual marks in a shortened stretch because of inclement weather.

Head coach Dalanda Jackson has a solid mix of veterans and youth, and wants her club to get some work in.

Jackson saw the Tigers run in a few events at the 22nd annual Bulldog Invitational April 29 hosted by Poland Seminary. Midway through the meet, events were cancelled due to lightning and inclement weather.

Twinsburg also had some strong marks in a 78-59 league loss on the road at Nordonia April 25.

Senior Sean Silas finished fifth overall at the Poland meet in the long jump. He reached 20-feet, and 2.0 inches.

Silas led a Twinsburg sweep in the long jump in the meet at Nordonia.

With a leap of 22-4 feet, Silas won the long jump while sophomore Etaijen Easter placing second and Thornton was third.

In addition, Silas ran in the winning 400-meter relay with Gilbert Campbell, Thornton, and Edgerson. The relay won in 43.66 seconds.

Edgerson also captured two sprint events as he won the 100-meter and 200-meter dashes.

Edging sophomore Kaleb East in the 100, Edgerson was timed at 11.33 seconds. East crossed in 11.78 ticks. Edgerson won the 200 in 22.56 seconds.

Senior Aaron McCarthy had a superb meet for the Tigers as he won the 1,600-meter race with a clocking of 4:40.38 and won the 800 in 2:06.22.

Another Tiger senior, Omar Perrin, performed well at Nordonia in the high jump. He won with a leap of 5-10.

Easter placed third in the high jump by clearing the same 5-10 mark as Perrin, who won by virtue of having fewer misses.

"Julian Edgerson grabbed second on both the short and long hurdles and is improving weekly," said assistant coach Sarah Kmet.

Twinsburg was set to host Cuyahoga Falls in a league battle May 2, but results weren't available as of press time.

"Tyler Peeden finished second in the 3,200 race in his first-time racing in the event," added the coach.

Twinsburg will run at the Optimist Invitational at Austintown Fitch High May 6.

The Suburban League Championships are set to begin May 11 at Nordonia at 4 p.m.
